CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

QUALIFICATION:

Education:
3 years at technical colleges or 5 years at higher technical institutions in the field of “Civil Engineering”

Key curriculum topics:
Construction Cost Estimation / Construction Management / Construction Billing / Cost Accounting / Project Management as well as Construction-specific Expertise

Further knowledge:
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) / Building Information Modeling (BIM)

Practical experience:
School-owned workshops as well as through multi-week mandatory internships in companies

Educational option:
1 – Civil Engineering Technician -> Apprenticeship with modules
2 -  Civil Engineering Technician -> University / University of Applied Sciences

Completed studies or vocational training as Civil Engineering Technician / Construction Technician or comparable qualification

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* On-site monitoring and management of civil engineering projects (trenching, foundation work, sewer and hydraulic engineering, road construction)
* Implementation of occupational safety and environmental regulations
* Documentation of construction processes, quantity surveying, and preparation for acceptance inspections
* Collaboration with site managers, foremen, and aggregate suppliers; coordination with authorities and geotechnical engineers
* Operation and monitoring of construction machinery and equipment
* Quality assurance: testing of materials, compliance with tolerances and building regulations
* Participation in construction scheduling and deadline management
