Job Description

QUALIFICATION:
Education: 3 years at technical schools or 5 years at higher technical institutions in “Chemistry” or “Mechanical Engineering”  

Mechanical Engineering with focus on Materials Technology or Plastics Technology - Key curriculum topics:
Mechanics & Machine Elements / Manufacturing & Production Technology / Electrical Engineering / Automation Technology / Polymer & Composite Materials Technology / Materials Technology & Testing 
Chemical Engineering – Key curriculum topics: 
Analytical Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Physical Chemistry / Inorganic Technology / Physical Process, Energy & Environmental Engineering
Practical experience: School-owned workshops and laboratories as well as through multi-week mandatory internships in companies 
Educational options:
1 – Materials Technician -> Apprenticeship (with modules)
2 – Materials Technician -> Studies at University / University of Applied Sciences 

Completed studies in Materials Engineering / Metallurgy / Materials Science or comparable qualification - alternatively, relevant technical training with further training as Materials Engineer 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: 
* Testing, characterizing and evaluating materials (metals, ceramics, polymers) and their components
* Coordination of material selection and processes according to requirements
* Conducting material tests (tensile, hardness, corrosion, notch, and impact tests, microscopy, X-ray, and ultrasonic testing, if necessary)
* Preparation of test plans, reports, and documentation of test results
* Supporting qualification projects (PQRs, WPS) and aftersales / manufacturing technology
* Supporting the development of new materials and material processes (e.g., alloy development, heat treatment)
* Application of standards and standard tests (e.g., ISO, ASTM, DIN EN) and quality management (e.g., QMS, SPC)
* Participation in complaint and error analysis as well as continuous process improvement
* Collaboration with Development, Production, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing

skills_and_requirements
A - Sound knowledge of materials science, testing methods/procedures & suitable selection B - Experience with materials analysis (microscopy, hardness testing, X-ray/ultrasonic testing) C - Experience with process networking D - Good knowledge of quality standards (e.g., DIN EN ISO 9001, ISO 9001, and possibly IATF 16949) E - Structured, analytical working style, accuracy, problem-solving skills & teamwork ability F - Class B driver's license; BE is an advantage G - Good written and spoken German skills; knowledge of English is an advantage
