TRAIN DRIVER

QUALIFICATION:

Education:
In-house Training at Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) – duration of 52 weeks at the St. Pölten training campus and at the trainee's home depot – theoretical instruction & practical training in real-world railway situations with a driving instructor (assistant driving time)

Requirements for the training admission:
- Valid Class B driver´s license (in some Austrian federal states required)
- Minimum age of 19 years at the start of the course
- Vocational training completed
- Excellent German skills, both written and spoken to communicate effectively with our passengers and colleagues
- Physical fitness and excellent hearing & eyesight
- Male applicants: Military or Civilian Service has to be completed or be exempted from
- Successful completion of aptitude psychological assessment & medical fitness examination
- Willingness to changing work schedules in shift work (nights/weekends/holidays)

Completed training as Train Driver or comparable qualification (depending on legal requirements)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Controlling and operating locomotives according to specifications (e.g., train or freight vehicles, depending on the area of ​​operation)
* Ensuring safe operations, adherence to timetables, route and operating instructions
* Conducting vehicle checks, reporting defects, and assisting with maintenance and repair work
* Documenting journeys, operational data, and relevant incidents
* Cooperation with train dispatchers, scheduling, workshops, and authorities
* Participation in training courses on safety, hygiene, emergency management, and operating regulations
* Implementation of environmental and safety regulations, accident/damage prevention
