QUALIFICATION:
Educational options:
1 – Vocational schools for Tourism / Gastronomy
/ Hospitality (3 or 5 years)
2 – Catering Specialist -> Apprenticeship (4 years)
3 - Hotel & Hospitality Assistant -> Apprenticeship (3 years)
4 - Inhouse-training programs provided by large restaurant & hotel chains
5 – Training provided by industry associations as the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV)
6 - Training provided by Adult Education Institutions
Completed vocational training/degree in Gastronomy
/ Event Management, or comparable qualification
ACTIVITIES:
* Planning, organizing, and managing catering projects
from conception to execution
* Preparing quotes, cost estimates, and budgets
* Developing menus in coordination with kitchen and service teams, considering
dietary requirements, and validating allergens
* Personnel and resource planning (service, kitchen, and logistics teams)
* Coordinating procurement, logistics, setup, scheduling, and on-site quality
assurance
* Contact person for clients throughout the entire event phase, advising on
logistics, decoration, and event planning
* Ensuring quality control, hygiene, and safety standards (e.g., HACCP)
* Follow-up: Gathering feedback, invoicing, and evaluating key performance
indicators (costs, satisfaction, repeat booking rate)
